Engineering coverage of Cyprus Airways aircraft flying in and out of Paphos Airport started with the opening of the airport in 1984.
At first, the coverage was carried out by mechanics sent to Paphos from Larnaca Engineering. Later, in 1985, the decision taken by the Board of Directors to form an independent station, was becoming a reality.
Two retired Supervisors under contract were stationed at Paphos Engineering. Along with them the first two assistant mechanics, permanently Paphos Engineering Based, were recruited. Eventually the station was reinforced with further recruitments reaching the number of two A&C Superintendent, two Avionics Superintendent, six mechanics and one aircraft cleaner.
Today the department handles some 80 flights a week in the summer and some 50 flights in the winter.
