The Airbus A319

Taking off for destination Cyprus...

"Nikoklis" the first A319 of Cyprus Airways, leaving behind the
assembly line of Airbus for the virgin flight to Cyprus.

With the arrival of the brand-new Airbus A319, the final stage of the renewal and expansion was started for the fleet of Cyprus Airways in 2004 in an effort to stay ahead despite the growing antagonism.

The A319 is considered to be one of the most successful and popular Airbus type aircraft. It is a single-aisled, comfortable 126 seater and has three spacious washrooms.
The A319 is significally more comfortable both in business and economy class. Airbus can deliver the aircraft having from 125 up to 145 passenger seats according to the demand. Cyprus Airways has chosen to have only 126 seats for increased comfort but also for aircraft improved range since it will be used for short destinations with continues service. Cyprus Airways is using the A319 for destinations like Greece and Middle East.

Despite the fact of the small size of the aircraft it has the capability of continues flight up to a distance of 6,800 km, which allows for the usage of the aircraft to longer destinations.
The A319s are powered by two underwing-mounted V2500-A5 engines designed and manufactured by International Aero Engines, a multinational consortium of companies, (including top aero engine manufacturers Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney) from five nations, Britain, USA, Italy, Germany and Japan.
